CBS orders 3 more episodes of Stanley Tucci led medical drama 3 Lbs.
Well, I don’t get the name, unless somebody does lipo or breast implants, but CBS has ordered up four more scripts of their brain surgery medical drama 3 Lbs, even though it is yet to have a premiere date or any airings. But with Smith out of the way, there is at least one spot opening up on the current CBS schedule.
3 Lbs. is a New York City based medical drama surrounding an arrogant, brilliant yet wildly unpredictable surgeon Stanley Tucci, and the brain surgeon who works under him, played by Mark Feuerstein. (See, that whole 3 Lbs. title just doesn’t really make sense).
CBS has ordered three more scripts, bringing it up to a total of ten from the 7 originally ordered.
The series was originally planned for last season, with many different cast members, including Dylan McDermott (yummy!) in the Stanley Tucci role. Current cast members include Indira Varma, Tamara Taylor, Armando Riesco. CBarry Levinson was the previous director with 3 Lbs, but the series is now led by current director is Davis Guggenheim. Very few series survive such a major cast overhaul, even when it is still in the beginning stages, but CBS ordering more scripts is a positive sign.
Word of advice to CBS before the series premiere. Get a new name! 3 Lbs. just doesn’t have it.

The title refers to the weight of the human brain. Check out my review coming soon of the 3 lbs. premiere:
